June Sadowski-Devárez

June, President, brings more than 30 years of experience to IETS with a specialty in federal regulations pertaining to F-1 students and compliance issues for higher education. She specializes in simplifying complex immigration regulations, policies and procedures for practical application in academic settings.  In 1988, while serving as Assistant Dean/Director of International Student and Scholar Services at St. John's University, June identified the need for resources and training for administrators in her position. She founded IETS in 1990 to fill this need for international educators and to improve the delivery of services in the profession. June holds a Master of Arts degree in Student Personnel Administration in Higher and Adult Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Sal Longarino

Sal, Director of J-1 Training, serves as Director of the Office of International Students and Scholars at Fordham University. Previously, he directed the OISS at New York University for 7 years. Sal was NAFSA's national CAFSS (now called KC-ISSS) chair. He is a past chair of NAFSA's Region X and a past member of One To World’s Board of Directors. He is also currently NAFSA's New York State Whip for Advocacy and NAFSA's Alternate Representative to the DPI/NGO at the UN.

Elizabeth Gill

Elizabeth Gill is Associate Director of International Student and Scholar Services at Stevens Institute of Technology, where she advises an F-1 student population of over 1500. Elizabeth has five years of experience in international education working with both F-1 and J-1 students and scholars.

Ward Deutschman

Ward Deutschman is a consultant in regulatory affairs to small colleges, and serves as an accreditation team chair for the New York and New Jersey state education departments.  He has recently retired after working as PDSO/RO for 5 years, during which he was a founding Board member of Study New York. He holds an Ed.D. in Educational Administration and has been in college administration for many years. 

Some of the posts he has held with various colleges include: Provost, Associate Vice President, Dean of Admissions, adjunct Associate Professor of Computer Science and adjunct Associate Professor of Education.

Jim Shafer

Jim Shafer, PDSO at New York Language Center, an English as a Second Language School in New York City, has 14 years in the field.  He has been a presenter at NAFSA Region X workshops.  He has worked abroad in Slovakia, Morocco, and Thailand and he has worked in the Africa Region of the World Bank.
