J1 Quote

"… I encourage all new staff who will be working with sponsored exchange visitors to attend a J-1 Essentials training session at IETS. The in-depth training provides a solid foundation not only to the regulations and their interpretation, but also for working in the Department of Homeland Security's SEVIS environment. After the training, staff come back to IIE with a binder full of information and an excellent understanding of their vital role in academic exchange as well as the importance of compliance with the regulations."

J-1 SEVIS ESSENTIALS - Level III

Participants should have taken J-1 Essentials - Levels I and/or II and have been a Responsible Officer (or ARO) for at least 2 years.

This comprehensive program, designed for "seasoned" officers, will review all topics covered in levels I and II, as well as address new ones.  All topics will be discussed in depth with special focus on "gray areas" to enable attendees to develop and implement policy and procedure in their own J programs.  This one day workshop is designed to address the most "thorny" most challenging issues and we encourage the participants to forward their examples for discussion.
